Munyaradzi Chibaya is a Zimbabwean artist who specialises in realistic tribal paintings. He draws his main motifs mainly from Maasai, Himba and Tuareg tribes. His preferred medium is oil paint, which, like an important ingredient, makes his paintings vivid and particularly radiant. His strong and so natural brushstrokes reflect his desire to create imposing works.
Munyaradzi Chibaya was born in Zimbabwe in 1985. His passion for art came to the fore after the death of his mother in 1997. He received a lot inspiration from Berthold Moyo and his long time friend Keith Zenda. The opening of a gallery (Prime Art Gallery) in 2005 by his brother in Victoria Falls also gave him a new opportunity to become better known. Botswana and South Africa were the next stages, where he was able to successfully market his works with recognition in several galleries.
He currently resides in Arusha (Tanzania) and in his hometown of Gweru, where he opened an art studio (Wild Tribe) in 2016 to support the community.
His works are still very popular and have found countless lovers in Amerika, Mexiko, Tansania, France, Germany and Great Britain where they have also been successfully sold.
